Good work this week! Learning new things is hard.

For next week, please be sure the chords for the verse of “Mary, Did You Know” are under your fingers. Pay careful attention to the syncopated chord changes that happen on the last eighth note of the measure in numerous places. We are aiming for 88 to the quarter note.

We also ran through “My Lighthouse,” “Ever Be,” and “Our Great God,” practicing how to count off and considering when it might be appropriate to add measures to aid the congregation between sections. We also worked the transition between chorus and verse of “Our Great God.” Keep working on those details. Rehearsing with a metronome could be very helpful for you at this stage.

My musical happy moment this week is three of my favorite musicians, Chris Thine, Yo-Yo Ma, and Edgar Meyer playing a Bach trio.
