Young Beginner Violin from 11.4.16
Practice pages 16 & 17 in your books as well as all of the concert music. Here is what we are playing on the concert, in the following order:
#19 Rolling Along
#20 Good King Wenceslas
#22 Lightly Row
#32 Up the D Scale
#31 Down the D Scale
#36 Dreidel
#43 Mozart Melody
#42 Old MacDonald
#41 Jingle Bells
There are still several students who do not have a music stand and/or rosin. These items are absolutely necessary. Please have them by next class. Stop into Hoover music, it will only take 5 minutes. Please keep your fingernails short!
Every student should be practicing at home! Make time for it in your school day. At least 15-20 minutes of mindful practicing daily.
Practice your good bowholds! Using your RIGHT hand:
- Make a circle, touching the tips of your fingers to the tip of your thumb.
- Give your circle bunny ears.
- Open the bunny’s mouth.
- Turn the bunny’s head to the LEFT.
- Put your bow in the bunny’s mouth.
- Close the bunny’s mouth.
Play your bow games!
Rocket
Stir the pot
Windshield wiper
Elevator
Train
Spider races
Notes:
Practice tightening and loosening your bow. When tight, it should be a pinky’s width between the stick on the bow and horse hair. Always loosen hair before you put your bow back in its case.
Make sure you are practicing rest position and playing position, and reviewing the steps from our very first class (scroll down on the website for a list of steps if you’ve forgotten).
