PSHP is Canceled for Friday, 1/13/2017, due to Weather Conditions
Hello Everyone,
Old man winter has struck again, or at least is predicted to late tonight and tomorrow! So no PSHP classes on Friday, January 13 but I do have other important information which is time sensitive, so please read the rest of the email! You will not be charged for classes when we cancel for weather. Please stay home and be safe.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The optional music contest, Federation, on March 4 at Evangel, for solos, small ensembles, and theory exams has an entry deadline of Saturday, Jan 14. Please get me the following information by Friday (tomorrow) at 5:00 pm if you plan to register. It costs $17 per person for solo entries, theory exams and small ensembles. The basic premise is that you are evaluated on your performance, and given points (maximum of 5 points per year). Each student prepares and memorized 1 or 2 songs for their evaluation. After 15 points you earn a trophy, called a Gold Cup. It is a great learning experience for those that desire this type of experience.
- Student name, teacher name, event, class, title and composer of both the required song and choice song, school grade, student birth date (month/day/year), accompanist.
- Please be in prayer for our choir teacher Jennifer Sinn and her family. Jennifer had a brain bleed on the left side of her brain on Monday, Jan. 2 and has been in ICU since then. The brain bleed was caused by a defect in one of her blood vessels in her brain and has probably been there since birth. Prognosis is good, but she will have a long recovery. Good news is that she is probably getting out of ICU today and will be in a regular room, then be transferred to an outpatient facility for rehab. Her right side and speech has been affected, but a praise that her voice and music are right brain skills and that she is left handed. Please no visitors at this time. Be in prayer for her husband Brett and their 2 young sons, age 4 and 7. I will post updates when I know more. Also be in prayer for Suzannah Pugh, as this is her best friend and they have known each other since they were 6 years old.
Needs at this time for the Sinn family:
- Send cards to Jennifer Sinn
2119 N. Douglas Ave.
Springfield, MO 65803
- Sign up to bring meals for their family on a Friday at PSHP between now and May. See Information Table next week. Suzannah will deliver the meals to their family each week.
- Linda Maes was involved in a car accident last Friday, Jan. 6 as they were leaving the practice for the PSHP Jefferson City rehearsal. The accident occurred @ 4:10 pm , as they headed north of Campbell and just north of Grand Street. The other car merged into her lane. No witnesses saw it and the other driver is now changing his story. Linda is hoping that someone leaving PSHP saw this. Please contact her at 520-483-1473. It snapped the tie rod and will cost at least $500 to fix.
Calendar Update:
The PSHP Banquet will be March 25 at 6:00 at Aldersgate UMC in Nixa. Most of the high school advance classes will perform and the middle school age students will serve on this special evening. Mark your calendars and invite your friends and family. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 3!
Watch for updates to the January schedule as far as Theory Teacher Meetings and Friends meetings.
Thank You:
I was so proud of the 61 PSHP students that traveled to Jefferson City for our performance Monday for the Interfaith Service of our new state government officials’ inauguration. Thank you families for making this possible! We had 45 cars driving up for this honor. I was overwhelmed with joy for the whole day! The students looked, acted, and sounded professional. This day will be part of our memories for a life time. What a great way to spread the love of Jesus Christ through our music. I was also inspired and uplifted by the positive atmosphere of the whole day. It was refreshing to see this, given the negativity that is prevalent in today’s political scene. Continue prayers for our elected officials.
