Intermediate Band – Oboe
Also look for the general Intermediate Band post from Mr. Dan.
Needed materials:
– Oboe swab (long, thin, usually silk cloth to clean out your instrument) – I forgot to check. If you have these ignore this.
– Minimum of 2 GOOD reeds
– Tuner (I prefer stand-alone [not smartphone/internet], chromatic tuners. Clip-on are fine.)
This Week’s Assignment:
Straw exercises to work on keeping air in diaphragm, NOT in chest. RELAX! (shoulders and neck.)
To build endurance, do short, frequent practice sessions until you’ve built up some stamina. 2 – 15 min. sessions or 3 – 10 minute sessions are preferable.
Continue warming up with pp. 30-31, p. 40 #1-6 – Continue to use these for warm-up/practice fingering facility.
*Memorize Eb scale – Work with a tuner for intonation and do long tones to build endurance.
Rhythm a Week #1-6
Patriotic Favorites – Battle Hymn of the Republic
*Film Favorites – Pirates of the Carribean
*Chair Audition Material
