Beginner Band Percussion Assignments:

Practice all the exercises on page 6 on the keyboard percussion side of your Essential Elements book.  DO NOT WRITE IN THE NAMES OF THE NOTES.  This will become a really bad habit that’s hard to break.  Instead, just take the pieces REALLY slow and try to figure out each note as it comes using the sayings for the lines and the spaces (Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, FACE).  Lastly, remember to hold the sticks in a proper match grip!  No index fingers on top of sticks, and no outward facing knuckles!  Knuckles should face up toward the ceiling, index fingers curled around sticks.  Have fun making music, and I’ll see you on Friday!
