We have talked about the second harmonic which is found when you divide the string half way between the nut and the bridge.  Lightly touch the string at this point and the pitch will be one octave higher than the open string that your finger is on.  Violins and violas use 4^th finger and cellos use 3^rdfinger.  Move your right thumb and your whole hand together as you shift or move to the harmonic.
