Concert Choir Assignments for 11.10.2017

Hallelujah Chorus: Singers, I can tell you have done some work on this. If you are still struggling with some parts, please put in the time you need to get the rhythm and the notes correct. This is a song that is not for the faint of heart, even if it is so familiar to most of us. It can chew you up and spit you out if you aren’t on top of it! We start combined rehearsals next week. In preparation for that rehearsal, please spend time this week on Sections B and D, both notes and rhythm. Do your best to know your part well. Remember, choir is a team sport, and you can make the team stronger with your individual practice.

You can find individual rehearsal tracks listed by part below:

Soprano

Alto

Tenor

Bass

Full Chorus

Mary, Did You Know?: Admittedly, we’ve not had much time on this as a group, but I have every confidence that you are more than capable of performing this at a high level. I would ask you to please work on your harmony parts for the Bridge and 3rd verse. The sooner the choir has harmonies learned, the sooner we can get to things that will really make it special! Be careful to avoid scooping into notes and to learn accurate rhythms. The studio recordings posted elsewhere on the website will be very helpful for you.
Mary did You Know: To find the mp3 for Mary did You Know, click on this link, then scroll down to where it says mp3 and double-click on that.

My musical happy moment: Watch these “silent monks” give a performance of theĀ Hallelujah Chorus.

Note: These were from Dr. Heather Nelson, you should check back later to see if any additional assignments have been added.
