Auditions for Jazz Ensemble*
AUDITION TIME: Aug. 17th, 11am-noon, upstairs, please arrive at 11am.
Should be 14 years old and up
*Jazz Ensemble Members should also be a member of another large ensemble appropriate to their instrument or secondary instrument.
Wind/Brass Instruments: Book3 – pg 19, #91, pg 40 #177, pg 41 #181
Drum Set: demonstrate a 4/4 swing pattern on set, and straight rock beat, ability to count and either clap or play rhythms from Book 3 #177 or #181
Bass Guitar: play a walking bass line (email Dan Updegrave; dan@myroadchurch.com for an example), demonstrate knowledge of reading bass cleff notes.
Rhythm Guitar: Demonstrate chord knowledge, scale knowledge, bring one prepared chord style piece
Piano: Demonstrate scale knowledge, chord knowledge, bring a prepared piece – preferably jazz or contemporary style. Will also sight read a simple piano piece.
