Young Beginner Violin Class 10/16/15

This week, please practice:

Essential Elements 10-16

Remember for number 10, for G, you place your 3rd finger on the blue tape on the D string;

For number 11, place your 2nd finger on the white tape on the D string;

For number 14, place your 1st finger on the red tape on the D string;

For numbers 12,13, 15, and 16, you will place fingers 1-3 on the red, white, and blue tapes on the D string for the note G (the first note of the song). When you get to a different note, either E or F#, you will lift the fingers above it off the string so that you are playing that note. For example, when you move from G to F#, you will lift your 3rd finger off the blue tape, and leave your 2nd finger on the white tape, so you can play F#. (Parents, please help your child with this);

Remember to keep good posture! Keep your left thumb in the circle at the end of your fingerboard next to the scroll, and keep your left wrist straight. We don’t want pancake hand! Here are two pictures of what your left hand should look like:

Good job everyone! We are working on some pretty difficult techniques. If you have any questions, or want any help, please feel free to contact me! I would recommend practicing with recordings of the Essential Elements songs, if you can. To get these recordings, type this link into your search engine, Hal Leonard Online – Essential Elements Strings Book 1, and click on “Download Audio”.

Bonus Question (please answer on paper for one ticket): What number is your left middle finger?
