Teacher’s Notes

Just a reminder that we only have 1 Friday left in November and 1 in December to prepare our Christmas Concert Material.

· Combined rehearsals are Nov. 20, and Dec. 4 in the Sanctuary from 12-12:30. 12:00 Messiah #44 Hallelujah Chorus, 12:12 Messiah # 4, And the Glory of the Lord, 12:22 Somewhere in my Memory

· Classes review Concert Etiquette in class

· Start informal student evaluations in class. I will have copies for the teachers this week. Please give the form to the student to take home to their parents. The students can earn a ticket or candy if they return the form with their parents signature.

Student and Parent Reminders

1. This Friday is the last day to fit and hem the Black Concert Dresses for the high school girls. Please bring your black shoes to wear for your dress fitting. Thank you to Tracy Yohn for ordering the dresses and organizing the hemming. So if you were absent or not there, please bring them this week, so they will be ready for our Dec. 4 and 5 concerts.

2. Please make every effort to attend our combined rehearsal in preparation for our Christmas concerts in the Sanctuary at the time listed. This schedule will be the same for Nov. 20, and Dec. 4.

· 12:00 Messiah #44 Hallelujah Chorus (for all instrumentalists and concert choir)

· 12:12 Messiah #4 And the Glory of the Lord (all instrumentalists and concert choir)

We will wait to add the Singers Choir and Mezzo Choir until Dec. 4th

3. All parents are invited to The Friends Meeting at Noon upstairs in Room 203. We will be planning for the Prize Store for Dec. 4, and concerts on Dec. 5 and Dec. 11. We will also discuss a possible lunch for the students that are performing at nursing homes in the afternoon of Dec. 11.

4. The Music Composition Class would like to invite you to their Student Composition Recital, this Friday, November 20 at 2:45 in the Sanctuary. They will be performing their recent “pass around” compositions. Beethoven Orchestra will start rehearsing after the recital and rehearse until 4:00. Brahms will rehearse from 4-4:45.

5. Teachers will start informal student evaluations in class. I will have copies for the teachers this week. Please give the form to the student to take home to their parents either Nov. 20 or on Dec. 4. The students can earn a ticket or candy if they return the form with their parents signature.

6. No music classes on Friday, November 27. Happy Thanksgiving.

7. Remind your student to keep track of any tickets they are getting in class; possible in an envelope or a ziplock bag. They will want to keep them safe until Dec. 4 when they can use them to purchase prizes or gifts in the Prize Store.

8. Please be on the lookout for items to donate for our Prize Store on December 4. We can use all sizes of items. Ideas include gift cards, candy, music, batteries, tuners, games, toys, and any nice items that are gently used.

3. Saturday, Dec. 5 Concert at 2:00 at First E. Free for all of the advanced classes. Refer to your calendar for more info.

Performances by: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Harp Ensemble, Concert Choir, Bel Canto, Advance Guitar, Classical Guitar, Praise and Worship, Adoration Band, Select Band Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.

4. Friday, Dec. 11 (this is the correct date) Christmas Concert for all beginner and intermediate classes at Asbury. Each class is scheduled for a 10-15 minute performance between 10 am and 12:30 pm. Please plan early so working parents or grandparents can rearrange their schedules for this special day.

Girls Black Concert dress. Feel free to add red, green, or gold accents (hair ribbons, vests, sweaters, scarves, etc.)

Guys: Dark slacks, white or black dress shirts, red tie, Red or green accents if you wish.
