Great Job for Contest!!!

Memorize #147

Book 1 – #153 Carnival of Venice

& #152 – School Spirit

Continue working on Glory, Joy, & Crown

Others as assigned by teachers

Clarinets – all exercises on pg 24-25 – squeaks probably mean a finger is leaking; check yourself in your mirror.

4-1-16

Beginner and Advanced Intermediate; Check your orchestra class assignments.

Harp Ensemble;
Andante – Dynamics! This song contains the loudest of the loud, to the softest you can play, back-to-back. Bring that contrast out! Control the tempo and don’t let the change in dynamic quicken the pace… keep it slow and don’t cut off beat 4 or rush into the down beat.
Danny Boy – Again, Dynamics. Think of the tide, building and receding, both in tempo and dynamics. Make this piece alive with movement and tender in expression! Keep the rolled chords gentle and firm.
Loving the way you guys sound! Don’t forget, performance attire this week! Black and white or black.

4/1/16 Older Violin Class

Continue practicing your contest songs: #43, 64, 73, 86, 88, 89.Practice in your Essential Elements book anything through where the G string is introduced.

3-21-16

Beginner; Practice your orchestra sheet music for contest with the correct fingering.
Intermediate; Practice your contest music for Advanced Intermediate Orchestra. Make sure you are using the correct dynamics!

Harp Ensemble; Focus on Andante and Danny Boy. Continue with Tara’s Hall And Drink to Me Only. Older students practice Arran Boat Song. Everyone needs to have two things done before class in 2 weeks; 1, HAVE ALL YOUR LOOSE PAGES SECURED IN YOUR BLACK BINDER. 2, HAVE ALL OF YOUR DYNAMICS THROUGHOUT YOUR ENSEMBLE MUSIC HIGHLIGHTED OR CIRCLED. I will be checking your music, so please have this taken care of before class.

Younger Beginner Violin Class 3/18/16

Over the next two weeks, please practice Essential Elements: Exercises 43, 64, 73, 86, 88, and 89 (only the B part). Clap each song before you practice it. These are the songs we are playing at Contest in three weeks!

Please pay very very very close attention to bow holds! They are really important! Keep all your fingers curved, and make sure your pinkie rests on top of the stick. Also, no pancake hands!!!

We will not be meeting this week, because it is Good Friday. Enjoy your Easter and God bless!

Bonus Question: What is the tempo of Frere Jacques (Exercise 88)? Hint: It begins with “M”.
