[category: band]Practice the songs on page 14 of your Essential Elements book on bells, as well as exercise number 59 (from that same page but on the snare side of your book) on snare. Remember, ties are the "swoopy" lines connecting notes together, and they basically add the note values of the two notes together. So, two quarter notes tied together is the same as a half note, because you would hold it out for 2 beats (1+1=2).
When looking at the snare part for "Fit to be Tied" (which is exercise 59), remember that those strange "z" looking markings on some notes mean that you should do a buzz roll for the length of that note.
