The Four State Symphonic Winds Concerto Competition is the ultimate regional showcase of young talent in the Four State Area. Students currently enrolled in grades 8 – 12 are encouraged to submit their performance of one movement of a concerto (or similar, stand-alone piece) to be evaluated by a panel of judges. The submission, a video-recorded performance with piano accompaniment, must be available for purchase as a band accompaniment and cannot exceed 8 minutes.
During the first round, the video performances will be evaluated by a panel of players from within the Four State Symphonic Winds. They will choose 3 – 5 finalists to perform live for the judges on a date to-be-determined during the month of October. Of the finalists, 2 will be chosen to perform with the Four State Symphonic Winds, one during the December concert, and the other during the February concert.
The deadline for submission by hard copy or email is October 1st, 2019. Interested students should download the competition application, and visit the Four State Symphonic Winds website for more information. |
