Beginner Viola Class 9/30/16
This week practice Essential Elements, Exercises 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, and 22. Play through each exercise twice. The first time, practice it slowly, and stop to correct any mistakes (possibly requiring that you practice the “trouble” measure a few times). The second time, play it through at a normal tempo without stopping.
Also, work on 5 things this week: make sure your viola is level with the floor and back on your shoulder (not drooping in front of you), make sure your left wrist straight, check that your left thumb is right against the red tape, put all three of your fingers down when playing a G and put two fingers down when playing an F#, and make sure your fingers are right on the appropriate tape when playing a note (for example, if you’re playing an E, make sure your 1st finger is right on the red tape).
