All violin, viola, and cello students received finger marking tapes this week.  This will allow the students and parents to see if their finger placement is correct.  Look in your Essential Element book to see the correct shape of your hand for your instrument.

Finger Placement on Tapes
Pointer finger is first finger on the red tape.(1)
Middle finder when used by the violins and violas will be  second finger tape on the white tape. (2)
Ring finger when used  by the  cellos and will be third finger on the white tape.(3)
Ring finger when it is used by the violins is third finger on the blue tape. (3)
Pinky is only used  by the cellos at the moment and is fourth finger on the blue tape. (4)

Fingerings to Memorize
D string notes on the violin and viola:  D=0,  E=1st,  F sharp=2nd, G=3rd
D string notes on the cello:    D=0,  E=1st, F sharp=3rd, G=4th
Tape order = Red, White, and Blue
As we add a finger on a string, it will change to the next letter in the music alphabet
