Bach Theory Year 2 from 10.28.16

Bach Theory, Year 2, from 10.28.16

This week, we worked on chromatic scales. It’s not a hard concept to understand, but it can be tricky to write it out correctly. Stick with it! Someone asked if I had ever played a song with a chromatic scale in it, and I have sung several songs that include chromatic scales, either whole or in part. Here’s a link to an aria that I have sung on a recital that includes a full chromatic scale starting on A, at around the 1:35 mark. It’s in French, but this video has subtitles: Juliet’s Waltz from Romeo and Juliet by Charles Gounod

We’ll have an assessment on key signatures and chromatic scales on Friday. Extra practice on key signatures can be found here and here.

More info on chromatic scales can be found here.

Have a great week!
